Shirley Ann Goertzen, age 82 of Henderson, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Henderson. She was born February 22, 1944, in York, to Arnold E. and Irene (Regier) Friesen. On August 23, 1963, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ardean R. Goertzen in Henderson.
Shirley was a steadfast follower of the Lord, who was always at the center of her life. After trusting Christ as her Savior as a junior in high school, she treasured reading her Bible, attending and serving at church, listening to Southern Gospel music, and singing along with her favorite groups at the National Quartet Convention. She spent many years working in tandem with her husband on their family’s farm, all while managing responsibilities on the homefront. She found joy in gardening, canning, cooking, and baking zwieback every Saturday. She loved spending time with her husband golfing, biking, and skiing or 4-wheeling in the mountains. A devoted mother and grandmother, she was her children and grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader at their sporting events and school activities. One of her greatest joys was playing piano, a love she passed on to her daughters.
She is survived by her beloved husband Ardean of Henderson, her daughters Lori (Kevin) Quiring and Debbie (Doug) Janzen, all of Hampton, and Stacey (Tim) Roszhart of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Stephanie Quiring of Henderson, Kelsey (Nathan) Eckstrom of Madison, Mitchell (Brittany) Quiring of Hampton, Nolan (Tierney) Janzen of Henderson, Randi (John) Cartier of Lincoln, Reagan (Carter) of Lincoln, Sydney Janzen of Lincoln, Jordan (Shelby) Roszhart of West Des Moines, Paige (Keaton) Collins of Cedar Rapids, IA, Grant (Johanna) Roszhart of Waukee, IA, 19 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Vera Friesen of Lincoln, brothers Keith (Deb) Friesen of Henderson and Boyd (Deb) Friesen of York, brother-in-law Don (Wanda) Goertzen of Lincoln, many nieces and nephews, and treasured friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dwight Friesen, and grandson Jacob Douglas Janzen.
