Rodney Roberts
Rodney Roberts, age 87, of Aurora, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026 at CHI/St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 1 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. The family requests casual attire to the service. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Rodney Gene Roberts, the son of Archie Earl and Doris Lucille (Keller) Roberts was born on November 5, 1938 at Aurora, on the family farmstead, and passed away in Grand Island, on May 25, 2026, at the age of 87.
Rod grew up on the family farm near Aurora. He graduated from Aurora High School Class of 1956. Rod served in the U.S. Army as a supply clerk and the Army National Guard before being honorably discharged with six years of service.
Rod married Janet Joyce Lorenzen on July 4, 1962 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wood River. They had two children, Kelly and Scott. Rod was a farmer. Janet passed away on November 26, 2021.
Rod was a member of the Masons, Lion’s Club and United Methodist Church in Aurora, where he operated the camera during church services.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; infant granddaughter and grandson, Gennavive and Reyley Roberts; two nephews, SSG Daniel Bader and Kevin Roberts.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Kelly Roberts of Aurora and Scott Roberts of Grand Island; three grandsons, JR, Griffyn and Phoenix Roberts of David City. He is also survived by his brothers, Dale (Shirley) Roberts of Grand Island and Kenneth (Jennie) Roberts of Lincoln; three nephews; a niece and other relatives and friends.
