Lawrence Johnson, 73, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at his home.
Larry’s wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30th at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Kristen Kipper will officiate. No Visitation. Lawrence ‘Larry’ Gene Johnson, the son of Fred and Shirley (Frost) Johnson was born May 24, 1953, in Aurora and passed away on May 24, 2026, in Aurora at the age of 73.
He went to school in Aurora until his junior year, he then moved to Hampton. Larry graduated from Hampton High School in 1972. He played football during his high school years. After graduation, he worked for Chuck Jensen on his farm.
Larry was united in marriage to Rhonda Maw on May 26, 1974, in Mankato, Kan. They had a son, Jeremiah. Larry worked on the Condon Dairy Farm for several years and later at Century Manufacturing until he had his leg amputated due to a tumor. He returned to work after therapy for a prosthetic at Eagle Ind. Fiberglass for several years then transferred to A1 Fiberglas. Later on, Larry delivered parts part-time for Friesen Chevrolet in Sutton.
He loved to hunt, fish, and golf with his son. Larry loved woodworking in the garage and spending time with the grandkids. He enjoyed watching his grandkids grow and loved watching them in their sports. Larry was a people person. He liked talking to friends and neighbors and just anyone passing by.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred Johnson, Jr, and Rob Johnson; sisters, Addie (Bruce) Dyer and Jeanne Knoell and sister-in-law, Kathy Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rhonda Johnson of Aurora; son, Jeremiah (Traci) Johnson of Raymore, Mo.; granddaughter, Peyton and grandson, Kadyn. He is also survived by his brother Gary Johnson of Aurora; brother-in-law, Dick Knoell of Sutton; sister-in-law, Loveda McDonald of Lee, Fla. and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
