South portion of 1st Street near completion

The 1st Street renovation project is essentially completed from Park Lane south to the railroad tracks, it was reported Tuesday, with crews expected to begin pouring the east side of the street north to Highway 34 within the next week.

Giltner School budget up 14.4%

The Giltner Board of Education set the FY 2025-26 budget at its September meeting Sept. 17, a budget that represents a 14.4 percent increase in projected spending over the previous year. However, the district’s new superintendent, Matt Gordon, said he does not plan to spend the entire budget.

Modular tips over on Highway 14

Traffic was slowed for several hours at the intersection of highways 14 and 34 in Aurora Monday afternoon when half a modular home fell off its trailer just west of McDonalds. Police were called at 2:13 p.m. to deal with the situation.
