Bremer Center project boosts April permits

Another solid month of construction activity pushed the year-to-date total of building permits to $8.6 million in April.A total of 23 permits were issued at City Hall during the month, the largest of which is for a $600,000 park and pergola already under construction at the Bremer Center.

Aurora sales tax drawing local attention

A resolution to implement a 1-1/2 percent city sales tax in Aurora drew input from citizens both for and against the proposal in this week's ANR edition. The "Yes We Can" Committee hosted a town hall meeting to share its views Friday.

Danish Bible finds its way home to Kronborg church

A Danish Bible that belonged to one of the original charter members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg was returned to its home parish last week and now has a permanent home in the church archives.

Council approves plan for Streeter 5th

The Aurora City Council gave its final blessing last week to plans and specifications for additional work in the Streeter Fifth Addition as part of the 1st Street construction project scheduled to start in May.

ANR earns statewide honors from NPA

The Aurora News-Register received the Omaha World-Herald’s Service to Agriculture award Saturday and later earned distinction as a top newspaper in its circulation class at the Nebraska Press Association convention in Lincoln.

After a rocky journey of more than four years with SkillsUSA, Aurora’s Connor Smith has finally hit the big time and punched his ticket to the national finals in Atlanta, Ga. this summer.

Girls on the Run took a detour this week and the end result was a feel-good finish for 30 young ladies who were able to complete a 5K in front of family and friends at Streeter Park in Aurora.
