Giltner board approves ’21-22 budget
Board transparency concerns, possible recall election of board president discussed
The Giltner School Board approved its budget for the 2021-22 school year during Monday’s regular monthly meeting, while also hearing concerns with statements made by local citizens at last month’s meeting regarding a lack of board transparency.
The tax levy went up 5 percent from last year’s rate. The approved 2021 rate is 84.68 cents per $100 valuation. That’s a rise from last year’s 80.66 cents.
The total combined property tax request is also slightly up, sitting at $2.91 million.
Giltner Supt. Nick Mumm gave a short presentation during the special hearing on the budget, explaining that this budget sets the groundwork for the district’s future.
“I want to continue to focus on rebuilding our funds that were depleted when I started here,” Mumm explained.
