Aurora City Council members voted June 28 to enter into a municipal rental agreement for two 2022 Caterpillar skid steers with a new financing company, Arvest Equipment Finance in Arkansas.
The company that works with vendor Nebraska Machinery Company (NMC), requested an ordinance be passed for the two skid steers as a form of accountability.
“Prior to this year, we always just signed a contract with an NMC and they financed our lease,” city administrator Rick Melcher said at the meeting. “Now they’re going to a finance company to lease the equipment. This lease company wants us to have an ordinance approved by the city council so they can ensure that they are paid. That’s the only difference between what we did before.”
The skid steers will be used for the clearing of snow, construction on sidewalks, sewers and the cemetery. They are to be leased on a year-by-year basis and were already in Aurora at the time of the vote.
