Aurora band missing from State Fair
Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor:
I am very impressed that there are 55 high school bands from all corners of the state participating in this year’s Nebraska State Fair. However, as a former Aurora High School band member, I find it more than strange that the Huskies are not participating.

Bound for the State Fair
Jeni Obermier
Growing up I never participated in fair activities beyond eating fried food and hopping from ride to ride.
The concept of showing animals was beyond me because I lived in town so I just assumed that you couldn’t. As I got older I never joined FFA or 4-H for the same not solid logic.

Simple rewards very satisfying for simle guy
Butch Furse
If you can stick around long enough, you never fail to have a new experience happen nearly every day. As we get older the new experiences may not be too exciting, but they do challenge your complacency by either becoming an irritant or leaving you with a good feeling.

Captain Oz sure has a nice ring to it.

A young man who has so many Nebraska youth looking up to him, both literally and figuratively, proved achieving your goals is possible.

By the numbers
Dave Bradley
This will be Scott Frost’s fourth season in Lincoln, but he’ll try to even up his opening day record to 2-2 after losing at Ohio State a year ago by the score of 52-17.
He’ll do so at Illinois on Aug. 28 with a fourth year starter at quarterback and numerous five-year super seniors on defense.

A bargain hunter’s dream
Jeni Obermier
I have always been what many people would call a thrifty person. Growing up it was all about sale racks, thrift shops and garage sales.
With five siblings it was the smartest way to shop, but as I got older I began to appreciate all that a person can find with a little bit of looking.
