Rick Goertzen has succeeded his father, Rod, as pastor of Countryside Bible Church south of Hampton. Goertzen took over as pastor in October, and says he has been striving to continue a welcoming and thriving environment at the church.

The Dorchester School Board has selected Giltner Supt. Nick Mumm to become Dorchester Public Schools’ new superintendent starting the next school year.Mumm has served as Giltner’s superintendent since July 2020 and will fully resign from his position at the end of 2024-2025 school year.

TC Machine moving to new, larger facility on Hwy 34

A Phillips-based manufacturing company is focused on its own building project now having outgrown its small base of operations along Highway 34.Traver DeMaranville has announced plans to move TC Machine about a mile west down the highway to a new 17,000 sq. ft.

AHS graduates three senior at mid-term

Three Aurora High School seniors received their high school diplomas early at a graduation ceremony held Friday in the high school gym. The students who graduated at mid-term were Cierra Warnock, Jaden Smith and Alexis Moffett.

Volunteers bring back ‘Chair-E-Yachts’

Two sporty looking precursors to today’s battery-powered wheel chairs are back on display and up and running at the Plainsman Museum after having been stored away for the past few years, thanks to the help of some museum volunteers.

Community hears 4R preschool plan

A proposal to expand the preschool program in Aurora and the potential impact that could have with related changes throughout the district drew a crowd of 75 people to the middle school theater last week as school administrators work to include the community in a growing conversation.Supt.

A man who is a recent transplant to Aurora and another member of the Kiwanis International service club spent time in the community recently to investigate the possibility of opening a chapter here.
The Aurora Mall was a busy place last weekend. Not only were shoppers preparing for a holiday feast, a jolly gentleman from the north stopped by to give children one last chance to take a spot on his knee. Among his visitors was Peter Berthelsen, the son of Elliott and Abbie Berthelsen.
