Senior Center sees growth in Meals on Wheels program

The welcoming warmth of a home-cooked meal is something universally cherished and it’s served up frequently through the Hamilton County Senior Center.  Welcoming in the new year, staff at the senior center report steady participation in their Meals on Wheels, drive-thru delivery and in-person meals.

Students learn how food is made at Ag Day

A group of Hamilton County fourth graders took a field trip to the Hamilton County Fairgrounds for the annual celebration of Ag Day on Sept. 27, where together they learned about food comes from and the work that goes into putting grub on the table.

Scary good time results in high food donation total

The heart of Aurora was the place for spooks and goblins, all for a good cause over Halloween weekend.  Aurora native Carl Franklin scared up plenty of good times over Halloween weekend and while doing so put together a big donation for the Hamilton County Food Pantry.

A food challenge between area fire departments netted almost 9,000 pounds of donations last week, boosting total contributions for this year’s Hamilton County Can-Care-a-Van drive to 42,860 pounds of food.
