Halloween had a happy ending for Aurora's volleyball team.

The Lady Huskies defeated Gering in four sets, 25-11, 20-25, 25-14 and 25-16 to win the B-7 district final and qualify for the state tournament next week. It will be Aurora's first appearance in the state tournament since 2016.

Aurora was impressive early with a 10-0 run that featured back-to-back-to-back Jaylee Schuster ace serves before winning the first 25-11.

After stumbling in the second, the Lady Huskies found a groove again in the third and fourth sets thanks to strong serving and a balanced attack.

Aurora enters the 2020 state tournament with a 22-12 record. Filling out the Class B qualifiers includes Omaha Skutt, Norris, Waverly, Elkhorn, Ashland-Greenwood, York, Aurora and Grand Island Northwest.
