It’s a phone call no professional athlete wants to receive, which leads to a meeting with upper management.
“Bring your playbook, too.”
Former Husky Austin Allen got that call Oct. 18 when he found out he was being cut from the New York Giants’ practice squad.
Allen, now a free agent available to sign with any of the NFL’s 32 teams, holds no ill will toward the Giants and even noted he would be one of the team’s first calls if anything happens.
“I was having a great time with the Giants,” Allen said in a phone interview last week. “It’s a great organization and I have nothing against them,”
Allen signed with New York as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL draft in late April.
He went through all of the offseason workouts with Big Blue as well as a full training camp in August.
