Sherman E. Wilshusen, 77, of Polk, died Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk with Pastor David Ohlman officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 2, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Sherman was born on December 6, 1946, in York, to Elmer and Ada (Zierott) Wilshusen. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church on January 1, 1947, and confirmed his faith on March 26, 1961. He grew up on the family farm west of Polk. After high school he spent his lifetime farming east of Polk and selling seed corn. Sherman attended grades K-8 at Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Polk High School in 1965. He joined the National Guard in 1966. In 1967 he and Bonnie Carlson were married. To this union, three children were born: Alisha, Rene’, and Aaron.
Sherman was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church serving in various offices. He was a member of the American Legion Post #91 in Osceola.
Sherm enjoyed his hobby of antique tractor pulling and spent many weekends traveling to pulls in Nebraska and the Midwest. He also hosted the Polk tractor pull for 19 years. Sherm  enjoyed playing a hand or two of cards. He loved farming and was always willing to help out his family and friends. Spending time with family was his greatest joy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three children - Alisha (Jason) Fellows of Stromsburg, Rene’ (Chuck) Kemling of Aurora, and Aaron Wilshusen of Kansas City, KS; sister – Janice (Marvin) Bankson of Polk; brother – Loren (LaDon) Wilshusen of Fremont; four grandchildren – Faith and Jayden Fellows and Britton and Lincoln Kemling; and six nieces and nephews. 
Sherman was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Wilshusen.
