Sherry was born on March 30, 1938 to Clifford and Mildred (Exceen) Watson in Holdrege. She grew up in Minden where she attended grade school. Her family then moved to Hastings and Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Dale Quick on June 16, 1957, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. She remained on the farm her entire life helping her husband and raising her family.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hordville where she served on the Ladies Aid. She was always there to help with church projects, no matter how big or small. She was also a member of a quilting club. She made many quilts that had beautiful intricate patterns. She also made jean quilts for all of her grandchildren and many of her great grandchildren to enjoy. Sherry spent endless hours crocheting blankets for all of the new babies in the family. She loved to bake, especially during the holidays. She always had baked goods prepared for any visitors. For many years, she and Dale were a part of a small singing group that visited nursing facilities. The residents loved their visits and musical programs. Sherry loved spending time making memories with her family. She loved to play cards or a game of marbles. She and Dale attended many of her grandchildren’s activities and were always present for the big events in their lives. Her family was her top priority.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dale of Hordville; sons, Dan and Alice Quick of Grand Island, Cody and Deb Quick of Aurora, Ryan and Lola Quick of Agency, MO, and Craig and Ruth Quick of Hordville; daughter, Lori and Mike Cave of Silver Creek; sisters, Barbara and Gordy Sinner of Hastings and Cyndi and Joe Ferguson of Pharr, TX; a sister-in-law, Doris Erickson of Clarks; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
