Robert Shaneyfelt

Robert Ray Shaneyfelt, 80, of Tillson, New York passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 24, 1940 in Marquette, he was the son of the late Ralph Boyd and Margaret (McGee) Shaneyfelt.  
On July 19, 1974 in Thurso, Scotland he married the love of his life, Grace Mennie. He had over 46 happy years together before his passing, traveling the world and raising their lovely family.
Bob proudly served his country as a Navy Seabee from 1958 to 1991, including three tours in Vietnam and many other overseas assignments. He was awarded many medals and commendations during his years of service.  
He was as genuine as they come and there never was any pretense about him. Apart from the love of his family, he loved old houses and old cars. Bob was cool under pressure, meticulous about everything, enjoyed telling a long and winding story and loved by all who met him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Grace Shaneyfelt; his children, Gayle Bowe of Tillson, NY and Derek Shaneyfelt and his wife, Masha of Washington DC; his sister, Janet Workman of Lincoln; his five grandchildren, Henry, Gracie, Arianna, Veronica and Milana.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Karen Crowe.
Friends may call on Wednesday January 13, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home. Memories and eulogies for Bob will be shared from 3 p.m. and full military honors will take place at 3:45 p.m. at the conclusion of the visitation.
Burial will take place in the Ulster County Veteran’s Section of the New Paltz Rural Cemetery at a later date.
