Robert "Bob" Solway
Robert “Bob” Thomas Solway was born in Aberdeen, Washington on December 22, 1957. He passed away on May 20, 2024, at his son’s home in Harvard. After a courageous battle with cancer, Bob, the beloved son of Miriam Solway and Eli “Jug” Solway, attended high school in Sutton and graduated from Aurora. He later joined the Army from 1980-1987, where he was stationed throughout the United States. After his military service, he returned to Sutton.
Bob worked as a maintenance supervisor for A-1 Fiberglass for 20 years and retired from driving trucks for Van Kirks due to cancer. He also volunteered for the Sutton Fire Department for 15 years. Bob had a passion for playing ball, fishing, hunting, golf, and playing cards with his friends and family. His true passion was fishing with his best friend Jerry at their childhood spot.
He is survived by his wife Kelli Solway of 27 years of Sutton, and children: Chris (Bethann) Bicknase of Oregon, Kevin (Reagan) Bicknase of Harvard, Dakota Solway of Sutton, Natalie (Brendan) Solway of Louisville, and Catherine Solway of Sutton.
Bob is also survived by his sister Deb (Jim) Jones of Sutton, sister Rene Maroney of California, and sister Penny Skalka of Grand Island, along with nieces, nephews, and 12 grandchildren.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on June 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the Sutton Community Center, where food will be provided.
