Richard Alan Schank, 79, of Clarks, died Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his home in Clarks. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the family’s home in rural Clarks on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. His ashes will be spread at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Legion, River Rats Association, or the Nebraska Airboaters Association. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.soltwagnerfuneral.com.
Richard was born Sept. 18, 1946, in Central City to Raymond Jr. and Jean (Davis) Schank. He grew up on a farm near Archer and graduated from Central City High School in 1964. Following high school, he joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1966 to 1972. After his military service, Richard continued farming in the Central City and Archer areas. He later retired to his dream home at the lake in Clarks.
Richard was a lifetime member of Central City American Legion Post No. 6, the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, River Rats Association, Nebraska Airboaters Association, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Richard is survived by his wife, Julia Schank of Clarks; children, Mike Schank of Grand Island, Brandy Schank of Lincoln, and son, Sebastian; Andrea (Austin) Jones of Omaha, and their daughters, Jocelyn and Leah; Brad (Nicole) Schank of Junction City, Kan., and their children, Matthew, Michael, and Emma; and Morgan Schank of Central City, Lifetime Friend Karen Schank of Central City. He is also survived by his sister, Vicki Wishart of Aurora; stepdaughters, Ange (Scott) Klute and their family, Kaylee (Calvin) Frey, Brady (Olivia), and Shayna; and April (Bobby) Kelley and their family, Lane (Kerissa), Lincoln (Reagan), and Lindee; three great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Jean Schank; his brother, Gary Schank; and his brother-in-law, Steve Wishart.
