She attended Carr Lake Rural School and graduated from Bemidji High School.
At 15 years of age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and endeavored to live for the Lord and serve Him for the remainder of her life.

After Keath graduated from Seminary, the family returned to Keath’s boyhood farm in Hamilton County, and continued farming from 1950-1960. While there, the Sandbergs served churches in Hamilton, Hall, Merrick, and Polk counties, in an Interim Pastor capacity.
In 1960, Keath and Doris left the farm and served churches in Big Lake, Minnesota, and Loomis, Holdrege, and Central City. Doris worked in the Big Lake, Loomis, Holdrege, and Beatrice banks. Later, she earned her LPN degree and was employed in Holdrege and Kearney hospitals.
Upon retiring, the Sandbergs moved to Kearney, where Doris was active in the Christian Women’s Club and was Guide for several Bible Studies. In 2010, Keath and Doris moved to Go Ye Village in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where they resided until moving to Holdrege in 2011.
