Connie Kay (Wall) Wallingford passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on May 6, 1937, in Aurora, to Walter and Rachel (Fenster) Wall. She grew up in Aurora, graduated from Aurora High School in 1955, and later attended Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney.
On April 9, 1960, Connie married Jim Wallingford in a candlelight ceremony at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hampton. The couple lived in York, until Jim’s service with the Army National Guard took them to Colorado Springs. After returning to York in 1962, Connie became deeply involved in York First UMC, where she remained a devoted member for more than 60 years.
In 1965, Jim and Connie welcomed their first son, Jim, and in 1973 they welcomed their second son, Randy. Through her family’s activities, Connie became a loyal York Dukes fan and enjoyed attending many school events.
Throughout the years, Connie led and took part in many church groups and community activities.
She was a member of Daughters of the Nile, PEO, Pride Pack, and the York Bowling League.
She also supported her husband by helping with the business side of Wallingford Sign Company.
In her free time, she enjoyed attending Nebraska Cornhusker events, going to musical performances, and traveling. Among her favorite trips were visits to New York City and Hawaii.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Rachel Wall; her parents-in-law, James and Carolyn Wallingford; her husband, James Wallingford; and her sister-in-law, Suzy Phelps.
She is survived by her sons, Jim (Kym) of York, and Randy (Debi) of Redmond, Washington; her grandchildren, Aaron (Jessica), Nathan (Jackie), Victoria, Camden, Bailey, and Olivia; and her great-grandchildren, Cole, Avery, and Atlas.
Inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in York with a private family service. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Connie has been cremated. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church in York. Condolences may be left for the family at metzmortuary.com.
