Carolyn Bourg
Carolyn Bourg, age 83, of Central City, formerly of Aurora, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Cottonwood Estates in Central City.
A Private Family Memorial Graveside Service will be at the Aurora Cemetery. No Visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Pleasant View Bible Church. Condolences may be sent to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Carolyn Grace Bourg, the daughter of Charles T. and Grace L. (Orr) Hawkins, was born in San Francisco, California on March 18, 1942 and passed away in Central City, on June 7, 2025, at the age of 83.
Carolyn grew up in Palo Alto, California and graduated from Cubberly High School in 1960. She worked as a bookkeeper in Palo Alto.
Carolyn was united in marriage to George “Joe” Lee Bourg on November 11, 1961 in Palo Alto, California. From 1961 to 1970 while Joe was in the Navy they lived in Oakland, Oxnard and San Diego, California and in Okinawa for three years. From 1970 to 1972 they lived in Roseland until they moved to Aurora in 1972. Carolyn worked as a bookkeeper at York Manufacturing for 17 years and for the Aurora Mall for 10 years. Joe passed away on August 6, 2005.
Carolyn was a member of the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. She enjoyed scrapbooking, painting, reading and most importantly spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Allison Gimpel, and brother, Charles (Denise) Hawkins.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her four children, Robert (Barb) Bourg of Lawrence, Theresa (Vern) Fielder of Aurora, Susan (Mike) O’Brien of Norfolk, Leanne (Greg) Gimpel of Aurora; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Coralee Ulrich and brother, Thomas (Catana) Hawkins and John “Jack” (Tara) Hawkins and other family members and friends.
