Alwilda “Arlene” (Call) Pirnie, of Marquette, passed away peacefully at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
A service to honor and celebrate Arlene’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home, located at 411 O Street, St. Paul. Pastor Bill Sterns will be offering words of comfort. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in the Dunning Cemetery, in Dunning.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
She was born to Wilber and Ida Jane (Ward) Call in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Sandhills High School in Dunning.
Throughout her years, she worked diligently at Arby’s in Grand Island, a career she carried with pride and commitment. Beyond her professional life, Arlene was an active member of the Mamre Church in Marquette, where she found fellowship and spiritual fulfillment. Her faith and participation in her church community were sources of strength and joy to her.
Arlene is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gifford “Alvin” Pirnie, Jr. of Marquette; her children, Vernon Loudon of Thedford, Billy Saylor of Grand Island, and Tina (Joe) Graff of Alda; Trisha Saylor of Hastings. She also cherished her relationships with her three step-children, Sheila Oborny of Colorado, Julie (Chris) Jeavons of Colorado, and Clifton (Danielle) Saylor of Doniphan. She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her sons Jeffery Saylor and Michael Saylor; and her granddaughter, September Rork. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Alwilda “Arlene” Pirnie’s legacy is one of kindness, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
