JoAnn Friesen
JoAnn Friesen, age 94, formerly of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 26 at 2 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton, with Pastor Ricardo Riqueza officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at the Hampton Cemetery prior to the service. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. JoAnn Darlene (Price) Friesen was born on March 29, 1931 in Plattsmouth, to Robert and Dolly Price. She grew up in York and graduated from York High School in 1949. On August 13, 1950, she married Max Friesen of Hampton. They lived in Hampton where they raised their family. They were blessed with two children, Steve and Kathy.
JoAnn was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Hampton and helped tie quilts for many years. She also taught Sunday School, and was a soloist for many weddings and funerals. She helped her husband Max by painting woodcrafts and joining him at all the craft shows, with their business, Max’s Wood Crafts, throughout the years.
She loved her outside flowers and indoor plants and loved to collect teapots and dolls. She babysat her two grandchildren when they were young.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dolly (Price) Perry, husband Max, son, Steven Friesen, brothers Roy, Dick and Dale Price, sisters-in-law, Merna Price, Betty Price, Norma Hutsell and Dolores Friesen; brothers-in-law, Robert Hutsell, Max Northrop and Jerry Friesen.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Doug) Larson of Johnson Lake; sisters-in-law, Lois Northrop of Sutton and Doris Price of Aurora, CO; grandchildren Matt (Brooke) Larson of Lincoln and Kara (Chase) Taylor of Aurora, CO, and great-grandchildren, Collins and Rowan Larson of Lincoln, and Calvin and Ruby Taylor of Aurora, CO.
