Fry resigns as fire chief and village board member in Phillips

Those attending the Phillips Village Board meeting last Tuesday night, June 4 discovered a shakeup in village trustee and fire department personnel caused by last month’s abrupt resignation of Jason Fry as both trustee and Phillips Fire Chief.
This parcel of ground just south of Highway 34 by the Mars Petcare facility (seen in the background) is the location of a proposed Synergen ammonia plant. Company officials announced Tuesday that the application has been temporarily paused.

Synergen Green Energy Inc. is temporarily pausing development activities on the planned ammonia plant project on Highway 34 just west of Aurora, company officials announced Tuesday in a press release.

County declares state of emergency regarding damage done in May storm

A severe thunderstorm with damaging winds that caused power outages in Hamilton County on the night of May 23 and 24 has prompted the county board of commissioners to declare a state of emergency so that the county can apply for emergency funds from the state and federal governments.
