Seven more in the running for local offices

Body

Hamilton County Sheriff Jeromy McCoy and County Surveyor Adam Goertzen are among the latest candidates to file paperwork with the county clerk’s office to run for election or reelection to local office in Hamilton County.
The list of candidates who have filed in this year’s elections grew by seven in the latest posting from the clerk’s office on Friday. The list is usually released on Monday, but was sent out earlier this week because of Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance.
In the City of Aurora, three more candidates indicated their intentions to run for seats on the city council. Kirk Handrup filed to run for the open Ward 2 city council seat and Carl Smith joins incumbent councilman Dan Bartling in running for the Ward 3 seat.
In addition, Tessa Stevens filed for reelection to a four-year seat on the Aurora School Board and incumbent Logan Rath filed for reelection to the Giltner School Board.
