Inclusive Playground groundbreaking set

After more than 20 months of envisioning, planning and fundraising an official groundbreaking ceremony has been set for next Wednesday, Sept. 24 at the future site of the Hamilton County Inclusive Playground on Old Creek Road. The groundbreaking to be attended by community officials and which is open to the public will take place at 4 p.m.
Organizers say they the event will not only celebrate breaking ground at the site of the facility which is hoped to be completed next spring, but to celebrate breaking barriers though construction of a playground that can be used by children and adults of all ability levels.
Billed as “a place where everybody plays,” the facility will have playground equipment that is accessible to children in wheel chairs or who have limited mobility. Those pieces will often be paired alongside equipment that can be used by kids without disabilities so that the two can play together in the same space, hence the title “inclusive.” The playground will also have restroom facilities, a shaded area and will be surrounded by a fence for safety reasons.
