Working to beat a Sept. 1 election filing deadline, the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners has confirmed York attorney Nathan Heinz as the choice to replace Douglas Dexter as the next full-time county attorney. Heinz was present for the Monday morning meeting of the commission, and introduced himself to those present, which included staff members from both county and district court.
Search and selection subcommittee members, commissioners Nicole SaBell and Francis McDonald, said they had recently interviewed the top four finalists for the position, noting that it was a difficult choice between the top two candidates. They also indicated there were some minor points to be negotiated regarding the contract with Heinz, however, they said he had verbally accepted the offer being made. The appointment by the board is set to be effective Sept. 14.
