Supt. Nick Mumm gave an address to assembled Giltner School Board members May 10 explaining recent events within the Crossroads Conference and why Giltner has requested permission to join the Twin Valley Conference.
Last week’s board meeting focused on that topic, with Mumm detailing some of the issues between Giltner Public School and other CRC schools.
The main issue for some in the conference, Mumm noted, involved Giltner’s recent vote against allowing Exeter-Milligan to add Friend to its cooperative as a CRC member.
“(A member of Nebraskan Lutheran asked) why did Giltner think that they should get in the middle of what’s good for kids,” Mumm recounted. “To which I asked him: Why do you think it’s good for kids? Is it good for EMF (Exeter-Milligan-Friend) kids? Maybe. Why is that good for Giltner kids? Why (should we) have a school that’s very comparable in size to us now grow astronomically, because Friend is almost twice the size of Exeter-Milligan.”
