Giltner Daze are here again
Fun events to be expected at annual summer event
With the onset of summer comes the return of Giltner Daze with both new and fan favorite activities to take place on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and brought together by the Giltner Area Development Corporation (GADC).
Before Saturday’s main events, Little Stingers Child Care will be hosting the Women’s 3 Person 9 Hole Scramble at Poco Creek Golf Course in Aurora at 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Later Friday evening, the 13th annual Giltner Alumni Dinner & Dance at the Community Center, with dinner starting at 6 p.m. and the dance commencing at 8 p.m. with performances by the Gallivant Band.

Registration and warm-up for the Giltner Daze Cornhole Tournament will begin at 9 a.m., with the games starting at 10 a.m. Admission fees for the casual division are $20 per team, with fees for the competitive division being $40 per team.

The Giltner Daze Volleyball Tournament will take place on Main St. beginning between 8:30-9 a.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first and second place teams.
Beginning the day on Saturday, the Giltner FFA chapter will host its 5K Fun Run at 8 a.m. Check-in time for the Fun Run starts at 7:30 a.m., with a registration fee of $30 for adults and free for elementary students. To register, contact Kelsey Schulte at kschulte@giltnernschool.us.
This year, the Brotherhood of the Platte will be visiting Giltner to give a medieval fighting demonstration at 9:30 a.m. in the park for visitors to watch knights spar and learn about the history of arms and armor as well as get the chance to learn how to spar themselves.
A tractor pull sponsored by Schutt Seed Supply will be open for both kids and adults to test their strength and pedal as far as they can at 10 a.m.
A penny dig sponsored by M Robertshaw Insurance will take place by the water tower for visitors to search for as many pennies as they can find beginning at 11 a.m.
Throughout the day, families can have fun getting their faces painted, playing mini golf, climbing Spider Mountain, or jumping in the bounce house, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The third annual Giltner Daze Car Show will commence at noon and will run until 4 p.m. The car show will take place along Commercial Avenue with 70 vehicles preregistered ranging from power wheels to a limo.
Over 40 trophies and dash plaques are expected to be presented to the winning vehicles in addition to giveaways and a drawing for door prizes.
A Mini Wheels Car Show will also take place, featuring ATVs, Power Wheels, golf carts, and go-karts, with an entry fee of $20.
Music and announcements will be presented by Goodtimes Sound.

At 2 p.m., visitors can test out their driving skills in the blindfold golf cart challenge.
Vendors will be available throughout the event, offering visitors a variety of food, drinks and treats to enjoy.
Food trucks available for visitors to enjoy include Mexcellent Grill, serving breakfast and lunch, Daylight Donuts, Bed Head Coffee Co., Le-Vi Kettle Corn and The Snow Shaved Ice Truck.
Visitors can stop by the Community Center to get lunch provided by the Lions Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Meals provided include pulled pork, cowboy beans and chips.
Ice cream will also be served at the Community Center starting at 11 a.m.
Sit-n-Bull will open its doors to visitors at 11 a.m.
The Giltner Fire Department will be present during Giltner Daze to collect non-perishable items and monetary donations for its ‘Help Fill The Truck’ event. All donations will be going to the Hamilton County Food Pantry.
