AHS speech qualifies 7 for state

    The Aurora speech team will have seven representatives performing at the state meet Wednesday in Kearney.
    The Huskies had numerous performers earning medals at the B-5 District meet March 16, which was hosted here in Aurora. The team placed third in the sweepstakes competition.
    State qualifiers include Julia Messere, who placed third in Extemp; Chloe Fawver and Hannah Vermillion, who finished first and third respectively in Informative; Scott Bennett, who was first in Poetry and second in Serious; Shawn Morris, who was third in Humorous. Fawver also qualified in POI, placing third.
    Other Aurora finishes at the district meet included: Ellie Springer and Hannah Vermillion, seventh in Duet Acting; Jessica Rodriguez and Abbie Hendrickson, fourth and fifth in Entertainment; Adelynne Hendrickson, 10th in Serious; Kash Hanneman, sixth in Humorous; Lena Groetzinger, fourth in Poetry; Lena Groetzinger, fifth in POI; Julie Messere, eighth in Persuasive. The OID team of Jessica Rodriguez, Wyatt Heiss, Shawn Morris, Abbie Hendrickson and Adelynne Hendrickson placed fifth.
