Parent voices concern with 4R policies

The Aurora 4R School Board heard candid concerns from a parent regarding hair policies for elementary students which could be viewed as racially discriminatory as well as a perceived lack of support for expanding the district’s high-ability learners curriculum during Monday’s monthly meeting.

Serious collision on Hwy 34

A collision between a car and this box truck near the Hamilton/Hall County line on Highway 34 caused the rerouting of traffic for a while Tuesday morning. The accident occured at around 9 a.m. and was responded to by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Nebraska State Patrol.

The Aurora City Council passed a resolution last week pledging support for the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s recommendation that Highway 34 be rebuilt through Aurora, converting the 1.71-mile roadway from its existing four-lane design to a “three-lane modified urban highway.
