The Heartland United Way celebrated a successful 2023 fund drive Thursday, announcing that donors contributed $1,574,629 to benefit 17 nonprofit agencies in Hamilton, Hall, Merrick and Howard counties.

More than a decade after the Aurora Development Corporation purchased 135 acres along Highway 14 as a site targeting data center development, a 2.5-acre parcel was sold last week to a company planning to build an expandable 5 megawatt data center expected to be operational by the spring of 2024.

Santa and Mrs. Claus traveled from the North Pole to visit kids in Giltner for the town’s Santa’s Christmas Memories event on Saturday.

Three individuals as well as a championship basketball team were all inducted into the High Plains Schools Hall of Fame on Friday, Dec. 1.The induction ceremony took place just prior to a basketball game and was attended by 12 of those being honored or their family members.

Hampton's 3rd Street came alive with Christmas cheer Sunday night for the annual Christmas in Hampton celebration. Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance, there were hayrack rides, S'mores, hot chocolate and more as the village rang in the Christmas season.
