From as far back as she can remember Emi Huls has loved horses. She has pictures of herself riding horseback on her grandpa’s farm when she was 2 years old and is now looking forward to a potential career in equine science, hoping to pursue a career in nutrition or exercise for horses.

High Plains senior Esperanza Lesiak has spent a large chunk of her life riding and caring for her horses at home.That, along with her overwhelmingly positive experience through FFA has provided her a dream opportunity to study animal science at Kansas State University after graduation in May.

A month after a string a frigid weather caused Aurora school officials to cancel school six days in a period of two weeks, Supt. Jody Phillips recapped the district’s winter weather procedures while also advising the board on the status of possible make-up days.
In recognition of their many years of dedication and volunteer service to Hamilton County, Barb and Jim Johnson were awarded the Aurora Area Chamber and Development Humanitarian Award in 2005.
