The Aurora School Board adopted a new policy banning cell phone use by students for the coming school year, following what Supt. Jody Phillips said is becoming a growing trend amongst Nebraska school districts.

With recent fundraising gains, opportunities for positive public exposure and the final design only days away, Hamilton County’s inclusive playground project is starting to gain some real traction.
As a member of the American Legion color guard, Robert ‘Bob’ Leach, folded and presented dozens of American flags to family members of deceased veterans. In May he joined the color guard again to present a flag to the family of fellow veteran and long-time friend Richard ‘Dick’ Grosshans.

Trio charged with child abuse in June 15 incident

Three adults have been arrested on charges of child abuse and five children were taken into the custody of Health and Human Services (HHS) following an incident on June 15 in which a 7-year-old was found walking along Highway 34 in Aurora wrapped in a blanket and wearing no shoes.

The Aurora City Council offered financial support to a Grand Island-based crisis center last week after hearing that Willow Rising Inc. has seen quadruple requests for services in Hamilton County during the past year alone.
