Return to church not normal, but welcome

Since the arrival of COVID-19 our Sunday mornings have not been the normal routine of going to church. “Going to church” took on a new meaning to our family. Either we clicked on the TV for coverage of a local church service minus congregational singing and communion.

What I saw while in South Korea

Editor’s note: This article, which first appeared in the Player’s Tribune, was written by Merete Lutz, the granddaughter of former Aurora resident Norma Gertsch. Walking to school in the morning past security guards shoveling dead birds off the playground. That’s an image I’ll never forget.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

A meaningful military tribute Dear Editor: This last Fourth of July I, along with other veterans, experienced an honor very unexpected to us. Two high school girls from the Aurora music department came to our home and played the National Anthem in honor of my Marine Corps service in Korea.

‘New normal’ won’t seem normal to many

The past few months we’ve been reading about the “new normal.” Thanks to COVID-19 we now have predictions of what the new normal is going to be. Bluntly, I’m not sure I’ll be ready, or for that matter, be able at my age to join the “new normal.
