A select few students, alongside Hampton ag teacher and FFA advisor Joel Miller, took a few moments during the school’s fall pep rally to update everyone in attendance on the new and exciting happenings with the Hampton Hawk Herd and agriculture programs.
This came along with a tour of the ag program grounds, including space for chickens and cattle, a coming expansion and a crop test plot.
“Tonight we would like to share some exciting information about the Hampton Hawk Herd and the Hawk Beef program in our school,” said student Brooke Lubke.
She added a quick thank you to Beef Boosters board members, as well as the three producers -- Triple K, Dose Land & Cattle and Art Dose & Son -- which have been donating beef on a rotating basis.
“The Hawk Beef program impacts all students K through 12th grade through the school lunch program,” she said. “Fresh, locally raised beef is served for lunch two days every week -- Tuesday and Thursday. This is something all students look forward to.”
Adding to the narrative, fellow student Lillian Dose noted that the overall goal of the Hawk Herd is to create an ongoing system to provide nutritious beef to Hampton students now and in the future.
