Michelle Broekemier, a Hordville native with 20 years experience in the healthcare industry, has been hired as the new administrator at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora. The pending administrative change was announced this week by Rod Schroeder, Westfield’s chairman of the board.

Finding and retaining trained nurses to provide all levels of health care was a challenge before COVID hit, and two years into the pandemic local health care administrators say the shortage of nurses is even more severe.

Christmas Free Shop event back for a 2nd year Based on the response to last year’s debut Free Shop event in Aurora, co-organizer Vicki Hill said the decision to proceed with a second annual event in 2021 was an easy one. “We pretty much made the decision that day that we’ll do it again,” Hill said.
