Harley Fassnacht, age 93, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, at Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 415 South 18th Street, Aurora. Rev. Rudy Flores will officiate.
Ramer Fassnacht with his daughter Teresa Elder-Smith and completed hot pad holders, with one in progress, on the table at his apartment in East Park Villa. Fassnacht makes up to 20 a week and his daughter helps finish them and works with her two sisters to sell his creations.

Edging close to 100, 98-year-old Ramer Fassnacht weaves hot pad holders in a variety of colorful and distinctive patterns, to pass the time. In an added bonus, Fassnacht’s three daughters have joined his cause, selling his creations in the last year since he’s mastered his craft.
