Trio of Lady Huskies win conference gold

Don’t look now but Aurora’s girls wrestlers are peaking at the right time. 
During the first-ever Central Conference girls tournament, the Lady Huskies featured three individual champions and a third place effort as a team at Saturday’s event held at Lakeview high school. 
The girls tournament coincided with the boys, with matches going on at the same time in the same gym. 
On multiple occasions Saturday, an Aurora girls wrestler was on the mat at the same time as an Aurora boys wrestler, something Aurora coach Derek Keasling was a big fan of. 
“I really enjoyed the setup. I think anytime we can have both teams competing in the same gym at the same time that it really helps our team power,” he said. “It’s so cool to have an Aurora boy wrestling and then on the mat beside them have an Aurora girl wrestling. I hope to see more tournaments go to this format with a boys and a girls division.”
