Experienced group of returners key to Aurora’s success

A Husky football team long on experience and high in expectations will be tested right out of the gate Friday, beginning the season with a road game against Class A North Platte.
The two teams battled into the fourth quarter before the Bulldogs won the opener 13-6 last year, with both then going on to make a playoff run. Aurora coach Kyle Peterson said he likes what he sees in this year’s team and is excited to see how they respond to this initial challenge.
“We have very high expectations like we do every year and we’re really excited to play a very good opponent in Week 1,” Peterson said after Friday’s final preseason scrimmage. “It’s an easy opponent to get excited to play. It’s going to be a new venue, someplace we’ve never been to before, and I think there are probably going to be an awful lot of fans there, which we didn’t get a year ago.”
