Huskies roll over Tigers for second district win
Aurora to face GINW in annual Hammer Game
Coach Kyle Peterson has put an emphasis on getting off to a fast start this season and his Huskies responded in spades Friday, scoring 36 points in the first quarter en route to a dominating 43-14 district win over Hastings.
The host Huskies were simply too much for the Tigers and took a step forward on both sides of the ball in their coach’s eyes with the team’s fifth consecutive win.
“We played about as well as we’re capable of playing I think for the first half,” Peterson said. “We’ve been looking for explosive plays all season and we got them in a number of different ways tonight. We got them in the screen game, the run game, had a couple of nice pitch and catches and we just seem to be operating pretty efficient offensively.
“Defensively, we just kind of continued what we’ve done the last two weeks,” he continued. “We’re becoming a pretty good defense, tackling well and understanding coverages. We’re giving them some underneath stuff that we know will let people nickel and dime us for a while, but overall that was a good first-half effort.”
