A memorable boys soccer season came to an end Monday as the Huskies fell to Grand Island Northwest 3-0 in B-7 District play.
The loss ends Aurora’s season at 10-8, going down in Husky history as the first boys soccer team to post a winning record. After sharing similar thoughts during an emotional post-game huddle with his players, coach Madison Farris said he believes the bar of expectations has been raised, permanently.
“This group didn’t know what to expect when they first got involved and to see them have such a special year is a credit to these guys and their attitude,” Farris said. “They posted the first winning season and that will be the expectation moving forward.”
And yet, Farris told his players that he truly believed they could advance beyond Monday’s district opener, despite having dropped a 3-0 contest to the same Northwest Vikings back on March 30. The final score turned out to the be same in the rematch, but Farris said the game looked and felt a whole lot different.
