Aurora coach Lois Hixson hit a career milestone Tuesday night.

As the Lady Huskies defeated Omaha Gross Catholic, the win marked the 500th career victory for Hixson. Aurora defeated Omaha Gross 25-17 and 25-13 while also dropping a contest to Omaha Skutt, 25-12 and 25-10. The team celebrated the accomplishment with balloons, signs and plenty of photos.

This is Hixson's 26th year as a head coach, having spent the past 15 seasons at Aurora. She started her coaching career at Chambers and has a career record of 500-244. Her record at Aurora currently sits at 332-177 as the Huskies prepare for a postseason run.

Since taking over Aurora's volleyball program in 2006, the Lady Huskies have won three Central Conference tournaments under coach Hixson, including 2020, while also qualifying for state seven times.

Aurora is 20-11 after rounding out its regular season Tuesday night and prepares for the B-6 subdistrict next week, which includes GINW, York and Seward. Brackets will be released Thursday.
