Hampton fans had a big road trip Friday night and were smiling all the way home.

The Hawks rallied from 12 points down in the second half to defeat Sterling, 35-34 to highlight a wild week three of the area high school football season.

Hampton trailed Sterling 34-22 at the half and held the Jets scoreless through the second half. Hampton scored twice in the fourth quarter, including the eventual game-winner with 1:10 remaining. A defensive stand later and the Hawks moved its record to 3-1 on the season.

Aurora wasn't so lucky in its first home game, falling to a large in stature Ashland-Greenwood squad, 42-24. The Huskies fall to 1-2 on the season.

High Plains picked up its first win of the year at East Butler while Giltner lost its Homecoming matchup to St. Mary's Thursday night. The game to watch next week will be in Clarks as HPC hosts Giltner in an area matchup.
