The first full week of the high school football season had just about everything, including a 21-hour marathon.

Aurora featured a two-hour weather delay and a near-five hour contest while Giltner's game was suspended in the third quarter until Saturday with rain and lightning sweeping through the area late Friday night.

By late Saturday afternoon, three of the four area teams picked up wins as Aurora, Giltner and Hampton all  came out victorious.

Aurora will keep the hammer at home, using a 99-yard touchdown pass from Booker Scheierman to Julian Hernandez as part of a 50-30 win at Grand Island Northwest.

Hampton picked up its second win of the season with a convincing 38-16 win over Lewiston on a night the Hawks honored the 50-year anniversary of the 1973 state championship football team.

Giltner led Deshler 22-6 with nine minutes left in the third quarter when the game was suspended. The Hornets came back Saturday with a pair of touchdowns for a 44-6 win.

HPC opened the season against a stout BDS team, falling 32-0 in its home opener.

Listed are all area teams and the scores of those games with the winning team in bold:

Aurora @ GINW, 50-30

Giltner vs Deshler, 44-6
