Aurora and Hampton opened a second football season -- the playoffs -- Friday night with varying results. 

The top-seeded Huskies in Class C1 took care of business in the opening round, defeating Scotus Central Catholic 43-13 at home. 

Aurora led 29-0 at the half with Carsen Staehr catching 11 passes for over 100 yards while Maddex Egger was over 100 yards rushing for the second time this season. 

The Huskies will host Lincoln Christian in the quarterfinals next Friday. Lincoln Christian defeated Omaha Roncalli 43-42 in a barn-burner opening-round game. Lincoln Christian is 8-2 on the season with wins over Lincoln Lutheran, Archbishop Bergan, Arlington, Nebraska City, Falls City, Raymond Central, Syracuse and Roncalli with losses to Platteview and Auburn. 

As for Hampton, the Hawks had a tough draw, traveling to Red Cloud as the Warriors picked up a 60-14 win in the first round of the D6 playoffs. 

Hampton's Evan Pankoke and Jack Bullis tallied touchdown runs in the second half. The Hawks finish the 2022 season with a 5-4 record, its first winning season since 2010.
