Evans anchors Aurora-winning 3200 relay team Monday
Both High Plains and Aurora competed in the 3200 relay at Monday’s Central Nebraska Track championships. HPC’s Haden Helgoth and Aurora’s Brett Mellies started the race for their respective teams, both of which ran PR times on the day (Aurora 8:15.24 and HPC 8:52.61).
Aurora’s Charlie Evans took the anchor leg with a chance. That’s all he and his three buddies needed. The Husky senior blitzed his way to the lead on the final lap and won the race to the tape by less than a second, highlighting a win for Aurora in the 3200 relay at Monday’s Central Nebraska Track Championships from Grand Island Northwest.
