Pool ends with zero shutdowns from summer run
The Aurora Aquatic Facility ended its 2024 season with a consistent turnout through the season with the reporting average daily attendance of 238.
According to co-manager Madison Farris, the pool had remained open the entire season with only few delays due to weather.
“It was a cooler year, but I feel like we were open most days and if we did close, we were open part of the day and then weather would close us down,” Farris stated.
Beside the weather delays, Farris commented the pool was never shut down during its run from May to August.
“Our two goals every year, are safety above all else and then a secondary goal is sanitary conditions of the facility,” Farris stated. “Any incidents we had were very minimal. We were very pleased with how our staff responded quickly professionally and were clearly well trained and executed their training well.
The highest attendance was reached on Saturday June 22 with 525 swimmers seeking an escape from the summer heat.
The pool sold 279 family passes were sold with 50 for individual passes reaching the total of 329 passes sold for 2024.
Outside of regular hours, the pool had 149 students for group lessons and 509 students for private lessons.
Throughout the summer, the pool hosted 22 parties.
“I would say in Ellie (Cerveny) and I’s 10 years of managing the pool, I cannot remember a more smooth year,” Farris commented. “We never had to shut down the pool for any chemistry reason or sanitation reason, which be difficult to maintain throughout the entire summer. We were very pleased with that. Overall, it was a quiet smooth year. Which is a really, really good thing for a manager.”
