Former Husky makes Husker debut

Nebraska redshirt freshman Austin Allen got his first taste of college football Saturday as he earned his first snaps for the Huskers at tight end as well as special teams. Nebraska led 28-27 late in the fourth quarter when Colorado scored the eventual game-winning touchdown with just over a minute to play. Nebraska had a drive to answer and even took two shots at the end zone from the Colorado 20, but it was not meant to be.

As for Allen, the Aurora product lined up on both the kickoff return and extra point/field goal formation on special teams. At the 13:02 mark of the second quarter, Allen entered the game for the first time on offense at the tight end spot, and played every snap of Nebraska's second touchdown drive to tie the game at 14. He did not record a pass reception in the loss.

Nebraska (0-1) will be at home again next Saturday, Sept. 15 taking on Troy with kickoff set for 11 a.m.
