Giltner Public Schools has 24 certified staff members, including a counselor and instructional facilitator, and nine paraeducators, according to Supt. Nick Mumm. While the school has two positions open for family consumer science and kindergarten, both of which have interviews, Mumm said the school is handling the labor shortage well.
“Well, to be honest with you, we’re still getting some wonderful candidates to apply for open positions,” Mumm said. “We’re lucky at this point.”
To explain how, Mumm stated that the reputation and benefits GPS provides have kept the pool of candidates coming in for open positions.
“I think Giltner has a wonderful tradition with the reputation of having great kids, great staff, great community,” he said. “When you talk to people about interviewing here, one of the things always is ‘I’ve heard about Giltner; I’ve heard of them before.’ I think it always helps the reputation that Giltner has, which is a very positive one.”
