All the way from Japan, senior talks learning in the States

Aoi Togawa is taking in every moment as an Aurora High School senior that she can before graduation this May.

Leaving home is never easy, but Aurora High School senior Aoi Togawa has taken on the challenges of being an exchange student.
Growing up in Japan, Togawa explained that after seeing television from the US as a child she wanted to experience American high school for herself.
“When I was kid, I loved American TV shows like iCarly,” she said. “That made me want to come to school here.”
The senior also expressed her interest in learning to speak English in America.
“In Japan, we don’t have good education for speaking English,” she added. “We only talk about writing, so I felt like I needed to learn how to speak.”
